Keep It Secret

“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.”

(Matthew 6:1 NLT)

The need to show off our good deeds is great. Impressing others with our good works gives us satisfaction. However, in Matthew 6:1-4, Jesus taught us to keep our acts of righteousness, those of giving, praying and fasting, secret. Even though others may not see them, God does and He’ll reward us for them. People tend to applaud our acts of righteousness for a while and forget about them altogether, but God keeps record of them and rewards us for them.

Keep your good works secret and let God reward you in the open.
