Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses.
(Luke 14:16-18 NLT)
Once, a family member chose to invite many people to an important event. To their disappointment, not many showed up. In today’s passage, Jesus told a parable warning that not everyone would enter the kingdom. Even though God invites many to be part of His kingdom, not many choose to accept His invitation. There are people who wonder how a loving God could send someone to hell. He doesn’t. That person chose not to accept God’s invitation to enter heaven.
Many are invited to the kingdom, but not all make it.
