And they said, “The Lord has need of it.”
(Luke 19:34 ESV)
As He was approaching Jerusalem, Jesus instructed two of His disciples to find Him a colt on which no one had sat before, untie it and bring it to Him. And if asked about why they were untying it, they should simply say, “The Lord has need of it” (Luke 19:31). Thankfully because the owners were willing to let Him have it, Jesus was able to enter Jerusalem triumphantly and hence, fulfill His Father’s will for the world.
The Bible says, “The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1, ESV). Yet amazingly, there are things that He actually ‘needs’ from us in order to fulfill His plan for the world, things that only we can give. Remember the boy with the five loaves of bread and two fish? Jesus was able to take that and feed thousands of people. What might He be needing from you today? Whatever it is, be willing to let Him have it so that He can carry out His will.
An awesome God needs something from us in order to accomplish something big through us.
