You are holy, because I am holy.
(Leviticus 21:7-8 CEV)
While reading the book of Leviticus, I kept coming back to the phrase, “be holy.” This repetition implies that God wanted Israel (and us today) to be totally consecrated to Him. But here’s what I’ve also discovered. While God desires that we be holy, He knows that we’ll never be able to achieve holiness on our own, so He says that He’ll help us become holy because He is holy. After all, only the One, who is holy, can make us holy. Count on Him to help you live a life of holiness.
Only a holy God can make us holy.
