New-found Praise

The leader of the families of the Kohathite clans was Elizaphan son of Uzziel…The leader of the families of the Merarite clans was Zuriel son of Abihail.

(Numbers 3:30, 35 NIV)

In what seemed like a tedious list of names, I found myself praising God in a new kind of way. I was reading Numbers chapter three, when I stumbled across the names of Elizaphan, Uzziel, Zuriel and Abihail. Examine carefully the meaning of these names and you’ll understand why.

Elizaphan: “(My) God has protected.”

Uzziel: “My strength is God.”

Zuriel: “My Rock is God.”

Abihail: “My (divine) Father is powerful.”

God has protected you over the years. He has been your strength and your rock. Your heavenly Father is powerful. Praise Him by using His attributes. He’ll  be glorified and your faith will be strengthened.

Praise God using His attributes
