Are You Listening?

The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

(1 Samuel 3:10 NIV)

We like to do most of the talking. That’s why many of us struggle to hear from God. When Samuel learned to pray, “Speak, for your servant is listening,” as Eli had instructed him to do, God began to reveal His plans to the young boy. The truth is that God is speaking, but are we listening? Until we take the time to listen, we’ll not hear from Him. And while we’ll not necessarily hear His audible voice, we’ll hear Him speak to us through either the Bible, circumstances or other people. He is calling, are you listening?

When you pray, take time to listen to God.
