“The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”
(Judges 6:12 NIV)
God called Gideon a “mighty warrior”, but Gideon didn’t see himself that way; he saw himself as weak and unworthy (Judges 6:12, 15). When Gideon finally saw himself as a warrior, he was empowered. He couldn’t be stopped because he knew God was with him. Gideon tore down his father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it, building an altar to the God of Israel instead (vv.25-26). Gideon also defeated the Midianites, the enemies of Israel. (You can read about Gideon’s victories in Judges, chapters 7 and 8.)
God calls each of us as we truly are – mighty warriors – but the devil blinds us to that reality because he knows that we will be a threat to him. I pray that today, you will see yourself – through the eyes of faith – as God sees you – a mighty warrior! I can assure you that no one will be able to stand up to you the moment you begin to see and live out your true calling as a mighty warrior!
