Don’t Get On the Wrong Train

Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

(Psalm 27:14 NKJV)

There’s a well-known Middle Eastern saying for single people: “Don’t let the train pass you by,” or in other words, “Hurry up and get married before it’s too late.” But I like to say, “Make sure you don’t get on the wrong train.” Many people are so eager to jump on the train that it doesn’t take long before they realize they got on the wrong one; it didn’t take them to their desired destination.

There’s a better saying that I’ve come to love and appreciate: “Don’t settle for less than God’s best.” Because getting on any train just to say that you arrived somewhere is settling for less, and that’s not the way God intended a marriage journey to be. Anyone can get on a train and go somewhere, but not many will enjoy the ride or arrive at a happy destination. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! (Psalm 27:14).

God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with him.
