In Jerusalem during Passover many people put their faith in Jesus, because they saw him work miracles. But Jesus knew what was in their hearts, and he would not let them have power over him. No one had to tell him what people were like. He already knew.
(John 2:23-25 CEV)
I just love the last part of today’s passage, “No one had to tell him what people were like. He already knew.” Jesus had a discerning spirit, and as His children, God has also given us a spirit of discernment to help us see the heart of the matter, and to distinguish truth from error. The apostle Paul had a discerning spirit. Twice in the Book of Acts, we’re told that Paul was aware of people’s evil intentions (Acts 13:6-11; 16:16-18). Ask God to give you a discerning spirit so that you, too, can live a victorious Christian life.
Spiritual discernment is key to living in victory.
