Be A Tough Cookie

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

(Matthew 7:24-25 NIV)

My four-year old student was enjoying his gingerbread man cookies when he looked up at me and said excitedly, “Miss, next week I’ll bring you a gingerbread man!” “But I don’t want a gingerbread man,” I said. “He’s sweet, but he breaks easily.” My colleague who got the joke burst out laughing.

There are two things that happen to us during the difficult times: we either grow better or bitter. When we work with Him, God can use our circumstances to shape us into stronger Christians who are not easily shattered by what is happening to us. Read and apply the Word of God daily and let it transform you into one tough cookie.
