We are careful not to judge people by what they seem to be, though we once judged Christ in that way.
(2 Corinthians 5:16 CEV)
While weight has never been a struggle for me, I know it is for many women around the world. I’ve seen firsthand the devastating effects weight struggles can have on women. Women, who are beautiful inside and out, who lose interest in looking their best and going places because of unwelcome comments that someone once made about their weight. They make it their New Year’s resolution to lose weight so that they can gain their self-confidence back. And while I’m a supporter of living a healthy lifestyle, I’m an even bigger supporter of seeing ourselves the way God sees us – fearfully and wonderfully made.
In Second Corinthians 5:16, the apostle Paul encouraged his readers to be careful “not to judge people by what they seem to be, though we once judged Christ in that way.” To God, beauty is truly skin deep. Learn to see others through His eyes. And if you’re struggling to see your self-worth through human eyes, read His love letter to you and you’ll begin to see that you’re precious and beautiful in His eyes. Because you are.
“It would be a shame to work so hard to be fit for this world, and be unfit for the King.”
