Love Doesn’t Delight in Evil

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

(1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV)

In First Corinthians chapter five, we find that there was a case of sexual immorality among the Corinthian Christians. Instead of being filled with grief and expelling the immoral believer from the church, the Corinthians were proud of their liberty (1 Corinthians 5:1-2). In chapter thirteen, the apostle Paul reminded them, “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” How do we react when we hear of someone who has fallen into sin, and has ruined and disgraced themselves? Do we grieve or rejoice? If we truly have the love of Christ in our hearts, we’d be upset over it.

Love doesn’t delight in people’s disappointments.
