A Remedy for Anger

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.

(Proverbs 15:1 NLT)

The voice on the other end of the phone was terse. I could tell the client was very angry. However, their rage quickly began to subside when the person on the phone answered them gently. Try answering an angry person with a gentle answer and I guarantee you that more often than not, their reaction will change for the better. But use a harsh word and watch the anger it can stir up. To put out the flame of someone’s anger, use a gentle answer. It’s a remedy that always works.

A gentle answer is like water that puts out fire.
