If you return to the LORD, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.”
(2 Chronicles 30:9 NIV)
King Hezekiah of Judah sent a letter inviting the people to the Passover celebration in Jerusalem, urging them to return to the Lord and reminding them that God is “gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.” The grace and compassion of God is a theme that runs throughout the Bible. I love Jesus’ promise in John 6:37, “whoever comes to me I will never drive away,” a promise that still stands today. People will turn their back on you when you mess up, but God won’t. No matter how far you’ve wandered away from Him, God awaits your return with arms open wide.
God’s arms are always open wide to embrace the lost.
