Are You Faithful?

“But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me,” declares the Lord.

(Jeremiah 3:20 NIV)

I find it interesting that even after many years of marriage, most couples struggle with trust issues. They can’t seem to trust their partners around others, especially single people. Oftentimes, it’s not the single person’s fault. The problem lies within the husband or wife who can’t be trusted.

Although the nation of Israel walked with God for many years, God didn’t trust His people. They were often caught wondering after and worshipping other gods. In fact, the Bible depicts Israel as an unfaithful wife, as in today’s passage and numerous others in Scripture.

Israel is symbolic of all believers in Christ today. We’re just as susceptible of cheating on God as those who walked before us. And just as He repeatedly invites us to trust Him, He’s also looking for people whom He can trust. Are you faithful to Him?
