Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.”
(John 8:12 CEV)
There’s a fitting song that we sung on Christmas Eve as we lit the candles at church every year. It’s called, “Shine, Jesus, Shine.” The song is really a prayer that Jesus, who is the Light of the World, would “shine on me.” As another has begun, it has become my prayer that Jesus would continue to light the dark path ahead, and every year, I stand in awe of how His light continues to consume the darkness in my life. One of Jesus’ great “I am” statements is “I am the light of the world.” And He truly is. I don’t know what I’d do without His light in my life, but I do know that I need it. Let His light shine on you too.
Allow the Light of the World to shine on you.
