Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
(1 John 2:15-17 NLT)
Sitting through what was supposed to be a Christian movie, I was shocked by the compromise of the “Christian” characters in it. They were no different from the unbelieving world. The characters were after fame, money and pleasure. I was disturbed by what I saw, but it also got me thinking about how important it is to live up to our calling as Christians not just in words, but also in action. If we really love Jesus, we can’t love the world, the realm of sin, as well. We’re either for Him or against Him. We either serve Him or the world. But we can’t do both. I’d much rather love and serve Him than someone else.
It’s either all or nothing with God.
