It was I who rescued you from Egypt and led you through the desert for forty years, so you could possess the land of the Amorites.
(Amos 2:10 NLT)
What should have been an eleven-day journey took forty years! The Israelites didn’t enter the Promised Land on time out of fear of what the spies had reported (Numbers 14). There was a time in my life when my own fear almost prevented me from claiming God’s promise. When I was hesitating about whether to pursue a certain goal, I was reminded of the story of the Israelites and it was as if God said to me, “If you don’t do it now, you’re going to have to wait for it much longer!” By the grace of God, I pursued and accomplished my goal when I was supposed to. While God is a God of second chances, we shouldn’t allow our fears to prevent us from enjoying His best now. Follow God’s appointed time.
Follow God’s appointed time, if you don’t want to miss out.
